About
Ever since I could remember, I wanted to be a teacher. My favorite childhood past time was playing school with my friends and brother and I was always the teacher. I graduated from Chesterton High School and attended Indiana University Northwest. I was at IUN for three years and then transferred to IUPUI for the remaining two years. When I started college, I was geared toward secondary education in math. When I started taking my education classes, and started substitute teaching, I found that I loved working with elementary children better then freshman students. I switched my major to elementary education and transferred down to IUPUI. During this time, I had also developed an interest in counseling and wanted to pursue a master’s degree in School Counseling. When I went to receive information for the counseling program, I discovered that an education degree was not needed to pursue a Counseling degree. Once again, I switched my major one last time, to receive a bachelor’s degree one year earlier, which would then enable me to continue my education and fulfill my future career choice. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in General Education and quickly started my masters in The School of Counseling Program at IUPUI. My future goal is to see myself as a high school counselor helping students socially, emotionally, and academically.
